In Uttarakhand, with improvement in weather conditions, sorties are taking place to rescue stranded pilgrims at Badrinath. However, due to bad weather in Pithoragarh people are being rescued by road. Authorities say, they plan to complete evacuation of all stranded people by this evening if weather conditions permit them.
Meanwhile, two separate teams from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Engineering Projects Ltd, are visiting Kedarnath shrine to assess the damage caused to the historical temple in the disaster. State government has already announced that Kedarnath temple will be renovated by government under the supervision of ASI. It has asked ASI to prepare a working plan to revive the glory of Kedarnath shrine with cooperation of Dehradun based Wadia Institute of Geology.
