Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill 2011 was passed by the State Assembly. The House passed the bill unanimously after a marathon almost five hours long debate. The main Opposition Congress earlier demanded that it be referred to the Select Committee. AIR Correspondent says that the passage of the Bill makes the hilly state the first to have a strong anti-corruption law and also have the Chief Minister and top bureaucrats under its ambit.
