In Uttarakhand, the 65th Republic day was celebrated with much fanfare today. The main function was held at the historic Parade Ground in the capital city of Dehradun, where Governor Dr. Aziz Qurashi unfurled the national flag and took salute at the parade. The Governor honoured three Police officers with utkrisht seva medal for their distinguished services on this occasion.

The function was also marked by colourful tableaus depicting development schemes being implemented in the state by the central and state governments. Uttarakhand police, 10 Garhwal Rifles and Uttarakhand women special force bagged first three places for their best performance in the parade. The Governor and Chief Minister called on the freedom fighters and their dependants and presented them with shawls.
