<span style="color: #222222;">Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena today dedicated to the public newly imported locomotive power set from India to be used for the 'Uttara Devi' Colombo-Kankesanthurai train.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The train with the new power set commenced its maiden journey from the Colombo Fort Railway Station this morning and will reach Kankensthurai in afternoon.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Sri Lankan transport minister Arjuna Ranatunga and Indian high commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu were present on the occasion. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The new powerset has been imported from India under Line of credit (LOC) assistance and had its trial run earlier this month.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Four drivers were sent to India for special training on running the new trains. The train has six compartments including an air-conditioned first and second class compartments.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">India has provided concessional financing of 1.28 billion dollars for the development of railways in Sri Lanka. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">India has also partnered with Sri Lanka in capacity development of Sri Lankan railway employees.</span><br />'' &nbsp;<br />
