In Uttar Pradesh voting for biennial elections for 36 seats of Legislative Council from local bodies’ constituencies will be taking place on Thursday. As many as 193 candidates are in fray. Elected members of the local bodies, three tier Panchayat bodies, MLAs and MPs are eligible to the vote in this election. Polling will start from 8 in the morning and it will end at 4 in the evening.<br/> <br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Nearly 923 polling booths have been set up for 1 lakh 33 thousand voters. Maximum 43 polling booths have been set at Fatehpur Kanpur constituency while minimum 15 are for Barabanki and Lakhimpur Kheri.<br/> <br/>The election commission has take several steps to insure free and fair poll including deployment of 70 observers and of them 35 are from other states. Micro observers have also been deployed at polling booths. <br/> <br/>The election Commission has also said that voting process at all the polling stations would be video graphed and videography should be continuous and uninterrupted under the supervision of an officer who would be accountable for it. <br/> <br/>The commission has clarified that no helper or companion should be allowed inside the polling booths for helping or assisting the voters except in the case of an illiterate, blind or infirm voter. <br/> <br/>The commission has said that during the poll, all the voters have to produce either the EPIC or any other identity document having a photograph of the voter or their identity cards issued by the local authorities concerned of which they are members.<br/> <br/>Massive security arrangements are also in place to conduct independent polling. Nearly 53 companies of PAC are deployed along with local police at the polling centers.<br/> <br/>Of these seats, SP held a maximum of 22, followed by BJP with six, RLD 2 and Congress and SJP one each. Four seats fell vacant due to resignation of three members and death of a BJP MLC.<br/>
