<span style="color: #222222;">In Uttar Pradesh, a big racket of extortion using fake call centre was unearthed and 126 people were arrested by Gautam Budh Nagar police yesterday</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The fake call centre allegedly involved in extorting money from US citizens by posing as FBI agents and threatening them with arrest for having discrepancies in their social security number. SSP Gautam Budh Nagar Aaj Pal Sharma said that after getting secret information joint teams of cyber cell and district police along with sleuths of special operation group conducted raid at the call centre in Sector 63 of Noida and arrested operators and callers, including many women.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A total of 126 people were arrested, 312 computer systems seized and cash worth over 20 lakh rupees recovered from the scene. The workers at the fake call centre used to call up US citizens and intimidate them in American accent, saying there were problems with their social security number, a nine-digit identification number issued to the US citizens, and tell them to pay penalty to get it fixed or face arrest.&nbsp;</span><br />''The call centre owners have been operating the centre from different places in the National Capital Region for last three years, and they keep it shutting and restarting every now and then to avoid detection.<br />''&nbsp;<br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Talking about the possibility of its interstate and international links DIG Law and Order of the State Praveen Kumar told AIR that an initial probe has revealed that they had partners in the US, Dubai and China and they might have associates in other states also, about which investigation is on.&nbsp;</span><br />''&nbsp;<br />
