In Up, the 68th Independence Day was celebrated with zeal zest and fervor in all over the state. The ?main function was organised at Vidhan Bhawan in Lucknow where Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav hoisted the national flag. Addressing the I-Day function, he said ? ?his government accords top-most priority to women security and good law and order? in? the State. ?He said that ?his government has been striving to make each citizen capable of contributing in the development of the country. ? ?On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented an overview of the major achievements of his government during the last two years in the main sectors of health, skill development, power, infrastructure and tourism. ?The most populous state of the country today seemed to be immersed in the celebration of the Independence Day. The capital city Lucknow looked very beautiful as most of the government buildings and public places were draped in tricolour cloth and the tricolour light has added to the ambiance. The little kids took out Prabahat Pheries and attractive rallies at several places to mark the occasion. The Independence Day was celebrated with special fervor in the places which had been specially associated with the freedom struggle, such as Meerut, Allahabad, Jhansi, Ballia and Varanasi along with others.
