Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray suggesting that rainwater from Mumbai be used for irrigation and for horticulture in cities like Nashik and Ahmednagar. <br />''<br />''He said that systemic planning of flood water, sewage and drainage can help diversion of excess water to drought prone areas. Mr. Gadkari said, such planning can help resolve the problems related to the Mithi river in Mumbai which has become a critical issue over the years. The letter proposes that a barrage be built on the Mithi river and the water be flown into the sea.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Minister also said the State Government should take up a project to convert all city roads into cement-concrete roads as tar roads do not sustain heavy rains. </span><br />
