US will not adopt genocide bill

The American Secretary of State Hillalry Clinton says the Obama administration will do what it can to block further progress of the bill describing as genocide the killing by Turks of hundreds of thousands of Armenians. A Congressional Committee narrowly approved the resolution on Thursday. The Obama administration is stepping in to block the resolution which has so anger Turkey, a key US ally. The non-binding bill was passed by only one vote in the House Committee on Foreign Relations but it could come up for a full vote in the House of Representatives if the leadership decides to bring it up. US officials had so far silent about the issue but Hillary Clinton has now said the Obama administration strongly oppose the resolution and would work hard to make sure it did not go further.
