The US has welcomed India's decision to ratify the key Paris Climate Change agreement on October 2.<br/><br/>In a tweet, the US Ambassador to India Richard Verma while congratulating Prime Minister for his leadership to Act On Climate said the US welcomes the news India will join the Paris Agreement on October 2.<br/><br/>Earlier, while addressing BJP's National Council meet in Kozhikode,Kerala, today Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India will ratify the Paris Climate Change agreement on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.<br/><br/> Modi said he had chosen the date, which is next Sunday, as Mahatma Gandhi's life was an example of minimum carbon<br/>footprint.<br/><br/> The pact will come into force after it is ratified by at<br/>least 55 countries that account for 55 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions.
