The US has welcomed one billion dollar aid by India to help war-torn Afghanistan become a stronger country. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters, State Department Spokesman Mark Toner yesterday said US views India's generosity and focus on<br/>Afghanistan as a very positive sign and appreciates India's effort<br/>to help Afghanistan become a stronger, independent country. <br/><br/>He said Afghanistan has the stronger economic growth, and has the capacity to defend itself and provide security to its people.<br/><br/>India this week pledged to allocate one billion dollar for Afghanistan's capability building in different sectors like education, health,agriculture, skill development, empowerment of women, energy, infrastructure and strengthening of democratic institutions.<br/><br/>India has emerged as one of the largest donors of civilian aid to Afghanistan.
