US welcomes arrest of Wikileak founder

The American Secretary of Defence Robert Gates has welcomed the arrest of the founder of the Wikileaks website Julian Assange in London. Speaking during a visit to Afghanistan, Mr. Gates said it was 'good news'.Wikileaks has outraged Washington by releasing thousands of secret American documents. The latest leaked diplomatic documents published by the Wikileaks website revealed extensive pressure exerted by Libya on Britain to secure the release of Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, the man jailed for the Lockerbei bomb attack which killed almost 300 people in 1988.
