The US says Vice President Joe Biden's visit to India is aimed at giving a new thrust to bilateral economic and strategic engagement.

The White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters in Washington today that Mr Biden is carrying a message that President Barack Obama highly values Indo-US ties and Washington wants to continue to enhance the economic and strategic engagement with New Delhi.

The Press Secretary said there are enormous opportunities for both the countries to work together and to work together even more closely as the relationship has evolved in a positive direction now for so many years.
