US wants assurance from Pak not tto use weapons against India

US say that it has sought assurances from Pakistan to ensure that the weapons provided are not used against India. The move has been taken in a bid to address the apprehensions of India over the end-use of American military aid to Pakistan. At a State Department Blog Forum, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Robert Blake said US is trying to build up Pakistan's counter-insurgency capabilities and seeking end use assurances to insure that the weapons that are provided will not be used against India. He said the issue was discussed during last week's Strategic Dialogue between India and the US which was co-chaired by External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This is for the first time US has come out in public to state that it was taking steps to ensure that its military aid to Pakistan would not be used against India.Blake also emphasised that it is important for Pakistan to take action against terror groups and do not discriminate against them.Blake also said the Strategic Dialogue was a momentous achievement as it set the pace and tone of partnership between the two largest democracies of the world.
