US vows more pro-active role to contain terrorism in India's immediate neighborhood

The United States has pledged to play more pro-active role to contain terrorism in India's immediate neighborhood. Responding to the queries on the Prime Minister's visit to the U.S, in the Rajya Sabha Thursday evening, the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that terrorism was the main agenda in the one to one talks between Dr. Manmohan Singh and the U.S. President Barack Obama. <br/><br/>Mr. Krishna said that U.S. has also agreed to share the details of Headley – Rana investigation who are said to be the brain behind the Mumbai terror attacks in November last. The two countries have also agreed to share intelligence to fight the menace. He said, India will continue its policy in Afghanistan for the reconstruction and development of the war-ravaged nation.<br/><br/>Mr. Krishna also ruled out India's signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.<br/><br/>Earlier the Minister made identical statements in the two houses, which said, India and the US agreed to create conditions to facilitate expansion of their economies and decided to launch the US-India Financial and Economic Partnership to strengthen engagement on economic, financial and investment-related issues.<br/><br/>The two sides also reiterated their commitment to expeditious realization of full potential of the Civil Nuclear Agreement.<br/>
