<span style="color: #313131;">The United States has started withdrawing troops from Afghanistan as part of a peace deal signed by the US and the Taliban in Doha on 29th February. A US official today said, troops have started leaving one base in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province in the south, and another base in Herat in the west.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #313131;">&nbsp; &nbsp; <br />''The United States is keen to end its longest-ever conflict, and under the terms of the deal all foreign forces will quit Afghanistan within 14 months provided the Taliban stick to their security commitments.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #313131;">&nbsp; <br />''US-led forces ousted the Taliban from power weeks after the September 2001 attacks in the US by al-Qaeda, then based in Afghanistan. The Taliban regrouped and became an insurgent force. By 2018 it was active in more than two-thirds of the country.</span><br />
