As the U.S. military force levels in Iraq has reached below 50,000 in line with US President Barrack Obama's direction, it is assuming a transition role. According to a statement of US forces in Iraq, received by AIR today, U.S. Forces in Iraq will continue to advice, train and assist the Iraqi Security Forces and support partnered counter-terrorism operations, and support the Provincial Reconstruction Teams and other nongovernmental organizations dedicated to building Iraqi civil capacity, until the end of mission in December 2011. The statement said the U.S. continues to comply with the Security Agreement. It says, it remains committed to an enduring strategic partnership through the Strategic Framework Agreement that will benefit Iraq and the region through increased security, political, and economic stability.
