A Senior American General William Ward said the United States will help the Somali government to establish complete control over the capital Mogadishu. <br/> <br/>Speaking in Washington, General Ward said that an operation to retake the parts of Mogadishu from militants was in progress, but he did not specify what American assistance might be provided. <br/> <br/>The Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed said, he welcomed the American air support.<br/><br/>
