US to give $205 mn to Nepal to build infrastructure

The United States will provide 205 million dollars to Nepal to strengthen democracy, governance and build peace in the Himalayan nation. The U.S. Embassy Kathmandu said in a statement that these funds will be used to build peace, strengthen democracy and governance, improve health services, support economic growth and education, and assist with humanitarian crisis in Nepal . An agreement to this effect was signed by Nepal ‘s Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry, Mr. Kapil Dev Ghimire, and Dr. Kevin A. Rushing, Mission Director of USAID in Kathmandu yesterday. According to the agreement, a major portion of the aid amounting to 82.5 million dollars is to be used to provide quality health services to its people, particularly the poor, and to pursue achievement of its 2015 Millennium Development Goals for health.
