The United States of America is interested in further strengthening bilateral co-operation with Bangladesh to counter militancy and terrorism. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed this view during her telephone conversation with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last night. According to Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, the two leaders discussed issues of bilateral and mutual interests. Ms. Clinton appreciated the Bangladesh government’s achievements in Millennium Development Goal areas, social and food security, women’s empowerment in addition to combating terrorism and militancy. He said that the US Secretary of State also accepted the Bangladesh’s Prime Minister’s invitation to visit Bangladesh.
