The US government says, it has agreed with China to send delegates to an international conference on a Chinese initiative to create a huge economic zone from Asia to Europe. The 2-day "Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation" will open in Beijing on Sunday. This will be the first international meeting on the initiative laid out by Chinese President Xi Jinping. <br/><br/>The US government announced the agreement yesterday, when it spoke about a follow-up to the "100-day plan" agreed between US President Donald Trump and Xi at their summit last month. Under the plan, the 2 countries are to work out specific measures to cut the US trade deficit with China.<br/>In a news conference, US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross referred to a remark by Trump that hinted the US may make concessions on trade in return for Chinese cooperation in dealing with North Korea's nuclear and missile programs. Ross noted that North Korea was not discussed during the bilateral talks, and he stressed his intention to pursue the reduction of the US trade deficit with China
