The US has taken up the issue of links between ISI and terrorist group Taliban with the Pakistan government and its military establishment.The US special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrook today said in New Delhi that both Taliban and Al-Qaeda work in close coordination and their long-term objective is to create crisis between New Delhi and Islamabad. Allaying India's fears, he ruled out any reconciliation with any of the terrorist group and emphasized the urgent need for bringing the perpetrators of Mumbai carnage to justice.Lauding New Delhi's role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, US Special Representative also pitched for better relations between India and Pakistan. He assured India that its role in Afghanistan is not being diminished to the advantage of Islamabad. While acknowledging Pakistan's crucial role in the evolving situation in Afghanistan, Holbrooke said it did not detract from India's contribution in reconstruction of that country.India pitched for an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned peace and reintegration process in Afghanistan at the Kabul conference on Tuesday and reminded the world of the need for this process to be inclusive and transparent. Richard Holbrook who is on a two day visit to India met the Prime Minister last evening to give his assessment of the situation in Afghanistan. He said that New Delhi has a major role to play instability of South Asia and in search of solutions in Afghanistan. He held discussions with the National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon in New Delhi last night.
