US stocks ended the month with their fourth straight daily decline yesterday.

The US share indices witnessed weakest August performance in seven years as worries about aggressive interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve persist.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index lost 0.9 per cent, the S&P 500 fell 0.8 per cent and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.6 per cent each.
