<span style="color: #222222;">US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad has arrived in Kabul to meet Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani. After breakthroughs in peace negotiations with Taliban leaders in Qatar, Khalizad is expected to try to secure cooperation from Ghani whose government the Taliban have so far kept out of the process. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, Khalizad has hailed significant progress in finding a solution to end Afghanistan's long-running war. In a tweet, he said his meetings with the Taliban were more productive than they have been in the past. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Khalilzad met for an unexpectedly long six days with the Taliban in Qatar. While he did not give further details, floated proposals include a withdrawal by the United States of its troops from Afghanistan in return for Taliban's guarantee of not sheltering foreign extremists. A fresh round of talks between Khalilzad and the Taliban is expected to take place on February 25 in Doha.</span><br />
