US Shutdown: No breakthrough as talks go into a second day over Mexico wall

<span style="color: #222222;">In the United States, talks aimed at ending a partial government shutdown over President Donald Trump's demands for border wall funding ended without a breakthrough yesterday.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">White House officials and congressional aides have however planned to return to the table today.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The White House said funding was not discussed in-depth, but the administration was clear they needed funding for a wall and that they wanted to resolve the shutdown all at once.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The shutdown, now in its third week, has affected around eight lakh federal workers who have been without pay since 22 December.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Democrats, who control the House of Representatives have refused to sanction the 5.6 billion dollars for Trump's ambitious border wall.</span>
