The US share markets logged gains on Friday amid volatile week. The three major stock indices surged as U.S. Treasury yields eased and economic data helped investors look past the growing likelihood that the Federal Reserve will have to keep its restrictive policy in place until late in the year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.2 percent, the S&P 500 gained 1.6 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index climbed two percent.
