In the United States, Pakistani scientist Dr Afia Siddiqi has been sentenced to 86 years in prison for attempting to kill American soldiers. American authorities had taken her into custody in Afghanistan when she raised anti US slogans and fired a shot at US soldiers. There were widespread demonstrations in Pakistan against the arrest of Afia Siddique when the news of her arrest came to light. Dr Siddiqi is a neuro-surgeon and she had got education at the Massachussets Institute of Technology.
