US Secy of State Clinton asks Pak to ensure its territory is not being used as launchpad for terrorists

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today asked Pakistan to do more to ensure its territory is not used as launching pad by terror groups for attacks. Ms. Clinton also said that Jamat Ud Dawa Chief Hafiz Sayeed was one of the principal architects of the 2008 Mumbai carnage that killed 166 people including 6 Americans. Speaking at a joint Press Conference after a meeting with External Affairs Minister S.M Krishna, Ms. Clinton said, the United States is committed to going after those who pose a terror threat to peace and stability of the world. She said, the US is committed to do everything to combat violent extremism.

External Affairs minster S.M Krishna said both India and the United States have pledged to work together in combating terrorism and also to bring to justice the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack. Mr. Krishna said, elimination of safe havens in Pakistan is vital for the success for the peace and prosperity of Afghanistan. Mr. Krishna said, Afghanistan had made significant progress in the last decade and the United States made valuable contribution in this regard. He said, Afghanistan is going through a critical juncture and needs stong and sustainable support from the international community for securtiy and development.
