The United States and Russia have said they will support the French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde to be the new Head of the International Monetary Fund. The US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Ms. Legarde's exceptional talent would provide valuable leadership. Correspondents say the US endorsement makes her almost certain to be appointed.
