US rules out mediation on Kashmir

US has ruled out a mediatory role in Kashmir. Speaking to reporters in Washington, the state department spokesman PJ Crowley has said that while US understood the importance of the Kashmir issue to both India and Pakistan, it was ultimately between the two nations to resolve the issue with the active involvement of the people of Kashmir.

Crowly was replying to a question on a suggestion made by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari in a US daily.
