The US has reiterated its support for India's permanent membership of the UN Security Council. The White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has said, President Barack Obama's November visit to India is another building block on an important relationship between the two countries which was strengthened earlier by his predecessors Bill Clinton and George W Bush. Speaking to reporters at his daily news briefing he said that around the announcement of US support for India's membership, there were also discussions on reform process that's under way at the United Nations, but the US believes that India was and should be an important part of that body. He said, the US will continue to support that. Gibbs said, as the UN considers that reform, they’ll take into account what the president and other nations have said.
