US Principal Dy Asst. Secy of State discusses drafting new constitution with Nepalese leader

In Nepal, the visiting US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Patrick Moon today called on the Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala in Kathmandu and discussed issues relating to peace process and drafting of the new constitution. Talking to newsmen, Moon hoped that the newly formed high level political mechanism would help in the peace process and drafting of the new constitution within the stipulated time. He said the United States wants to see, a stable, peaceful and democratic Nepal with the efforts of all political parties as they move together with a flexible approach to reach the decisions that will provide for an agreement on the peace process. During his stay in Kathmandu, Moon met Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala and Maoist Chairman Prachanda, among others.
