The U.S. President Barack Obama highlighted successes and challenges for the country yesterday in his State of the Union speech which is expected to include calls for investments in education and infrastructure and a proposed budget freeze.In excerpts released ahead of the speech, the president highlighted the need for political unity saying the country will either move forward together or not move forward at all. He says the challenges facing the country are bigger than a political party or politics.He says at stake right now is whether new jobs and industries will flourish in the United States or somewhere else. He says the country is poised to make progress as the stock market has rebounded, corporate profits are up and the economy is growing again.On budget matters, a White House official told U.S. media yesterday that the president will call for a five-year freeze on non-security discretionary spending.
