Congratulating India ahead of its 63rd Independence Day, US Senate has passed a resolution committing itself to foster and advance the strategic partnership between the two largest democracies of the world. The resolution noted that India is the largest democracy, and one of the largest and most-dynamic economies in the world. It said in recent years, both the countries have pursued a strategic partnership based on common interests and shared commitments to freedom, democracy, pluralism, human rights, and the rule of law. The resolution in this regard was introduced by Senator John Cornyn and co-sponsored by Senator Christopher Dodd.
