On day one of the US Open yesterday, Rafael Nadal advanced into the second round in the Men's singles category. Second seeded Nadal defeated unseeded Ryan Harrison of US 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, while fourth seeded fellow Spaniard David Ferrer trounced Australian Nick Krygios 7-5, 6-3, 6-2.In the women singles category, Venus Williams of the US upset 12th seeded Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium, 6-1, 6-2.
