India's Somdev Devvarman has advanced to the second round of the US Open Tennis tournament at New York. In his opening round match late last night, Somdev defeated Lukas Lacko of Slovakia, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to book a place in the next round. Somdev is the only player representing India in the Singles category.In the Women's Singles, Venus Williams of the United States has crashed out while Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and China's Na Li progressed into the third round. However, rain played spoilsport and some scheduled matches, including Serena Williams' second round fixture, were postponed.
