US Open Semis: Paes, Sania in fray in Men's & Women's Doubles

Leander Paes and Sania Mirza, with their partners, will play their semi-final matches of the US Open Tennis tournament at New York later today. In the Men's Doubles, the fourth seeded Indo-Czech pair of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek will lock horns with America's top seeded Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike. Paes is the only Indian left in the Men's Doubles section.In the Women's Doubles, the tenth seeded Indo-Chinese duo of Sania Mirza and Jie Zheng will take on the eighth seeded Aussie team of Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua.In the Men's Singles quarterfinals today, Briton Andy Murray will clash with Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, while Serbia's World Number One Novak Djokovic will meet Russian Mikhail Youzhny. Last night, Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Frenchman Richard Gasquet advanced to the semi-finals. While Nadal defeated compatriot Tommy Robredo, 6-0, 6-2, 6-2, Gasquet stunned Spain's David Ferrer, 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3.In the Women's Singles, Victoria Azarenka of Belarus and Italy's Flavia Pennetta progressed into the final-four stage, completing the four semi-final berths. In the quarterfinals yesterday, while Azarenka defeated Russian Daniela Hantuchova, 6-2, 6-3, Pennetta beat compatriot and higher seed Roberta Vinci, 6-4, 6-1. World Number One American Serena Williams and Li Na of China have already made it to the semi-finals.
