In season's final Grand Slam, US Open, India's Rohan Bopanna in mixed doubles made it to the second round whereas Sania Mirza in mixed doubles and Laender Paes in men's doubles lost their respective matches.In first round of mixed doubles event, second seeded pair of Rohan Bopanna and his Chinese Taipei partner Yung-Jan Chan beat Swiss Belinda Bencic and Fernando Verdasco of Spain 6-4, 6-4. However, an upset was seen when the top seed Sania Mirza and Brazilian Partner Bruno Soares were beaten by unseeded duo of Andrea Hlavackova from Czech and Lukasz Kubot from Poland 3-6, 3-6.In men's doubles event Indo-Spainish duo of Leander Paes and Fernando Verdasco were defeated by American pair of Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey 5-7, 6-4, 3-6. This American pair had defeated multiple grand slam winning duo of Mike and Bob Bryan in the first round.However, its not the end of road for both Sania and Paes in US Open as they are still figuring in women's doubles and mixed doubles event with their respective partner Martina Hingis.In US open Pre-quarterfinal, 33-year-old Serena Williams fought back to defeat 101st-ranked compatriot Bethanie Mattek-Sands 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 in women's singles. Serena Williams now needs only four more triumphs to complete the first calendar Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988. Venus Williams also defeated 12th-seeded Swiss teen Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-4.In men's single match, Noval Djokovic defeated Andreas Seppi 6-3, 7-5, 7-5. In an another match, Marin Cilic defeated Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin. Mikhail gave close fight to Cilic but lost the game by 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
