World Number One Roger Federer of Switzerland has crashed out of the US Open Tennis tournament, taking place in New York. In the Men's Singles quarterfinals, five-time champion Federer was stunned by Czech Tomas Berdych, 6-7, 4-6, 6-3, 3-6. This was Federer's first ever quarterfinal defeat in New York.American Andy Roddick said goodbye to Tennis after he lost in the quarters to Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro, 7-6, 6-7, 2-6, 4-6.In the Women's Singles, Russia's Maria Sharapova and American Serena Williams advanced to semi-finals.Meanwhile, India's Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek will play their Men's Doubles semi-final match at the Flushing Meadows tonight. The fifth seeded Indo-Czech duo will take on the sixth seeded Spanish pair of Marc Lopez and Marcel Granollers for a place in the finals. In the other semi-final, the second seeded American brothers – Bob and Mike – will play against the Pak-Dutch combination of Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer.In the Mixed Doubles finals, the Polish-Czech pair of Marcin Matkowski and Kveta Peschke will take on the Brazilian-Russian combination of Bruno Soares and Ekaterina Makarova.In the Men's Singles quarterfinals today, Serbia's Novak Djokovic will meet Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina; while Spain's David Ferrer will clash with Serbian Janko Tipseravic.
