Indo-Czech duo of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek have advanced to the men's doubles second round of the US Open Tennis tournament. The pair defeated Jarkko Nieminen of Finland and Russian Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 7-6 in a first round match at New York last night. However, the Indo- German pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Phillip Petzschner crashed out of the first round. They lost to Candian duo Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil 6-3, 7-6.In the women's doubles, the Indo- Chinese pair of Sania Mirza and Jie Zheng advanced to the second round after defeating German player Annika Beck and Monika Puig 6-2, 6-2.
