Belgian Kim Clijsters has won the women singles title at the U.S. Open. She overpowered seventh seed Vera Zvonareva of Russia 6-2, 6-1 in exactly one hour to successfully defend her women's singles title, her third overall at the tournament. The win makes the second seeded Clijsters the first woman to win back-to-back U.S. Open titles since Venus Williams did so in 2000 and 2001. Clijsters also won the title in 2005. Clijsters dominated the match, winning 78 percent on her first serves. The 27-year-old married mother will receive 2.2 million dollars for her win.The men's final will be held today between Rafa Nadal of Spain and Novak Djokovic of Serbia.
