The U.S. military has launched second round of air strikes to halt the advances of jihadist militants towards the Kurdish capital Erbil and destroyed militant’s convoy and artillery positions. Most of the airlines have stopped flights to Erbil. Meanwhile, UN envoy in Iraq, Nikolay Mladnov has appealed for a concerted global action against the jihadist militants who have seized large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria and are now threatening to overrun Kurdish areas. He told that United Nations is working to open humanitarian corridor so that those trapped in the conflict zone can be saved.
