The United States has decided to redeploy around three hundred Marines in Afghanistan's Helmand province this spring, to help a NATO-led mission to train Afghan forces. According to a statement from the Marine Corps in Washington, the step has been taken on request of US Central Command and US forces in Afghanistan. <br/><br/>The US Marines had left their mission in 2014 as NATO withdrew its forces and let Afghan troops to lead the war against Taliban.<br/>Meanwhile, Afghanistan has welcomed Pentagon's decision to deploy its Marines to the volatile Helmand province. Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman said in Kabul that deployment of the US Marines in Helmand will increase our capacity in fighting terrorism.
