A top America diplomat said, the US-India military ties has been an extraordinary story of the past decade and the bilateral relationship stands on its own. Alice Wells, the acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, said both India and China are leading powers but the ties with India are based on democratic values. <br/><br/>Wells said during a Congressional Sub-committee hearing on South Asia yesterday that the US supports peaceful and stable relations globally among all countries, including India and China. Our goal, ultimately, in the Indo-Pacific region, is every nation should be able to work together to uphold international norms and to prosper. <br/><br/><br/>She said the Trump administration obviously strongly supports a prosperous India that plays a leading global role. Wells was responding to a question from Congressman Ted Yoho, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Sub-committee on Asia and The Pacific. Wells did not give direct answer to the China question.
