The sanctions list has been expanded following the UN Security Council's fresh resolution last week.<br/> <br/>Announcing the sanctions at the White House, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, said the list includes two top commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard that controls the country's nuclear programme and a bank that is is acting as a front to evade sanctions. Five front companies and more than 90 ship have also been added to the list.<br/> <br/>The resolution was drafted and sponsored by the United States and all the other permanent members of the Security Council. The resolution was supported by France, Britain, Russia and China.Turkey and Brazil were the only two non-permanent members to have voted against the resolution.<br/>
