US immigration officers have arrested more than 680 people in recent operations, 75 per cent of whom have criminal records. Yesterday, the US Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said, the operations were routine and consistent with regular operations carried out by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Kelly said, that crimes committed by the illegal immigrants ranged from homicide to driving under the influence of alcohol. According to ICE, some of the immigrants arrested had ignored final orders of deportation. <br/><br/>US President Donald Trump has defended the ongoing crackdown on criminals under which over 680 people have been arrested, saying it is part of an effort to stop wrong people from entering America and to keep the country safe and secure. Trump told reporters at a joint news conference with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that his administration will vigorously pursue the policy to keep America safe from problems other countries are grappling with. Trump said, America cannot let the wrong people in and he will not allow that to happen during his administration.
