US for Palestinians State with a real sovereignty: Hillary

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said that West Asia peace talks must include the disputed city of Jerusalem and Washington does not accept the legitimacy of the West Bank enclaves and wants to see their construction halted forever.
She was speaking in a press conference in Cairo on Wednesday after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. She said US want to assure that its goal is a real state for Palestinians, with a real sovereignty.
Her comments have come after Arab criticism of her comments in Jerusalem on the Israeli plan where she called for the resumption of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians as soon as possible without preconditions.
AIR correspondent D Ojha reports from Dubai that analysts say that today’s statement of US secretary of state in Cairo is aimed at clarifying US stance on Middle East, after her recent statement in Israel where she called for the resumption of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians as soon as possible without preconditions.
Her praise for Israel's offer to ease settlement growth evoked strong reactions in the Arab world. Ms Clinton however later clarified in a television interview that Washington still considers the settlements to be illegal and President Obama wants a halt, to all settlement activity.
Nearly five lakh Israelis live in the settlements in the West Bank and annexed East Jerusalem and the international community considers these illegal. The Palestinians are insisting on a complete freeze of Israeli construction in the occupied West Bank before the peace process can resume, while Israel has not shown any signs of willingness to halt construction. Israeli-Palestinian peace talks were broken off after Gaza war during last December and January.
