A US Federal Court in Chicago has acquitted Pakistani-Canadian Tahawwur Rana in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case. The court, however, convicted him for providing material support to Pakistan-based terror group Lashker-e-Taiba, LeT and plotting an attack in Denmark. Court spokesman Randall Samborn said last night that Rana has been convicted of providing material support for the Denmark terror plot and also for giving such support to the LeT. The 12-member jury announced the verdict at the end of two days of deliberations against Rana, a co-accused in the Mumbai attacks with David Coleman Headley. Pakistani-American Headley was the government's star witness during the trial. Rana's attorney Patrick Blegan said this sentencing could result in a maximum of 30 years of imprisonment, 15 years for each of the two count in which Rana has been found guilty. No date has been set for the sentencing of the convict.
