The United States Special Envoy to West Asia George Mitchell has resigned. Mitchell led the administration's efforts to restart the stalled West Asia peace talks for the past two years. His departure comes before a speech next week by President Barack Obama on his West Asia strategy and a visit to Washington by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Obama praised Mitchell as one of the country's finest public servants.
