In Pakistan, at least 16 people were killed in a series of US drone strikes targeting vehicles and a house in Pakistan's restive northwestern North Waziristan tribal region. Today's strike in Khushali Toorikhel village southeast of Miramshah, the main town of North Waziristan, also destroyed a rebel compound. Reports said some foreign fighters were among the dead. More than 1,100 people, including several top Al Qaida and Taliban elements, have been killed in over 130 drone strikes in Pakistan since August 2008.
